GEORGE TOWN: The RM305mil was for the feasibility study as well as the detailed designs of three paired roads and the undersea tunnel.
State Works Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng said RM208.75mil was for the three roads – RM31.27mil for the feasibility study and RM177.48mil for the detailed designs.
The remaining RM96.25mil, he said, was for the feasibility study (RM20mil) and the detailed design of the tunnel (RM76.25mil).
“To date, the state government has paid RM208mil via land alienation for the feasibility study and the detailed design of the three paired roads project only.
“The fee for the detailed environmental impact assessment is included in the RM208mil,” he added.
He said the state would leave it to Consortium Zenith Construction to answer to the claim that the shareholder of the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the RM6.3bil Penang undersea tunnel project was a fashion company.
Lim said the state government could not speak for the company.
“The consortium is expected to issue a statement next week,” he said.
